1 Year Plus Postpartum Counselling Group

PWCs upcoming counselling group; supporting those who are navigating being 1 year or more postpartum, begins January 29th, 2025. This 6-week group will be held virtually on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM EST for 90 minutes. Sessions will be co-facilitated by Karin Thoms and Rae Jardine, two of PWC’s student counsellors who are both parents themselves.

Parenting doesn’t stop after the first year, but the support often fades. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just not as "fine" as everyone expects, join a group where your real experiences are heard. You’ve learned to care for your child, but what about caring for yourself? It’s normal to feel a roller coaster of feelings with the challenges that come with becoming a parent. This group is intended as a place to explore those feelings and find your way forward.

This 6-week, closed counselling group will connect you with other parents in the same season of life.

The objectives of this group include:

  • Building community and connection with others who share the similar lived experience of parenting little ones.

  • Explore and normalize the challenges of parenting little ones, including tantrums, sleep struggles, and boundary-setting.

  • Learning about helpful tools and resources, such as evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation—for both parents and children.

What Can You Expect From This Space?

Show up as you are with people who understand the struggles. Kids will be kids—if they show up too, that’s okay. We welcome the chaos that comes with them!

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to birthing and non-birthing parents who are one year postpartum.

  • This group is open to only residents of the province of Ontario.

Timing:

  • The group will begin Wednesday, January 29th and end Wednesday, March 5th, 2025. Sessions will run virtually on Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 PM EST.

Cost:

Pay-what-you-can ($5, $15 or $25 per session).

We do not want fees to be a barrier for anyone. Fully funded spots are also available to those unable to pay any fees at this time.

Spots are limited; if you are interested in learning more or registering, please email Rae at RaeJardine@proton.me.
